Warning: The colors shown here are applied on oak and intended to approximate the final color. The color and the gloss obtained will vary according to the type, texture, and the absorbency of the wood. Film thickness and the number of coats applied will also affect the result. To see the final color, it is recommended to apply the product on the wood to be used. Tips
THERE IS A RISK OF SELF-FLAMMING IN LUBRICATED CLOTH. AFTER USE, THE CLOTHES MUST BE DISPOSED OF AFTER COMPLETELY WETTED WITH WATER.
During the application, the application method and quantities specified in the Hemel Deck Oil Technical Data Sheet should be followed. For the best results, apply Hemel Deck Oil in 1 coat with a roller or brush, and remove the excess oil by brushing. If there is too much product left on the surface, it forms a film layer and Hemel Deck Oil dries too late. It does not provide a homogeneous appearance, retains ambient dust, and shows footprints.
Apply in the direction of the veins in the wood to achieve a homogeneous appearance.
It can be printed on the applied surface after 24 hours. The moisture content of the wood to be applied should be no more than 20%.
Impregnation should be applied to protect softwoods against mold, fungi, and harmful insects.
It is also recommended to apply 1 layer of Hemel Deck oil on the back surfaces to increase the service life of your wood decks.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between HEMEL Deck Oil and HEMEL Exotic Oil? According to what should I choose?
HEMEL Exotic Oil is a seasonal oil developed especially for hardwood and heat-treated wooden deck floors such as ThermoWood. HEMEL Deck Oil should be the preferred choice when longer-term protection, especially for all wooden floors made of softwoods, up to 1-2 years of service life and durability are required.
Can I use HEMEL Deck Oil product on the facade?
HEMEL Deck Oil product can be used on the facade. If it is applied to vertical surfaces, maintenance times are longer than floors. However, paint performance should not be expected from such oil-based products.
There is a previously applied paint on the Wood Deck. Can I use HEMEL Deck Oil without any action on it?
Painted or polished surfaces should be completely cleaned with a scraper before HEMEL Deck Oil is applied. If an oil-based product has been used on the surface before, you can easily clean the surface with HEMEL Deck Restorer and make HEMEL Deck Oil ready for application without the need for sanding or scraper.
Can I use the product in 2-3 coats?
You should use Hemel Deck Oil in one coat. Otherwise, the excess product remains on the surface and creates a film layer and Hemel Deck Oil dries too late. It does not provide a homogeneous appearance, retains ambient dust, and shows footprints.
Which product would you recommend for the sea pier to protect the wooden floor from seawater damage?
We recommend that you apply HEMEL Deck Oil or HEMEL Exotic Oil depending on the wood type and preferred properties.
I want to have a wooden ladder, which product would you recommend on it?
We recommend you use HEMEL Deck Oil on your outdoor wooden stairs. If seasonal care is not a problem for you, you can apply it in HEMEL Exotic Oil. On your indoor stairs, you can use our water-based parquet varnishes or our oil-based HEMEL Wood Oil 2C product.
What does natural oil mean?
Many oils such as petroleum-derived oils (naphtha oil), polymerized oils, and natural oils are used in paints and industries. The natural oils mentioned here refer to oils derived from vegetable products such as linseed, Tung fruit, soy, and cotton.

Spontaneous flame of the cloths used in Hemel Deck oil application
Causes Of The Problem:
- Disposal of used cloth without wetting them.
Solution:
In cases where cloth, sponge, felt, etc. products are used when applying to oil-based products, there is a possibility that the materials used may spontaneously flare-up, especially in hot weather. To avoid this, these materials that come into contact with oil, after use should be completely wetted with water and then disposed of.
Failure to clean footprints and/or dust on the product applied floor despite mopping
Causes of the Problem:
- It is caused by the fact that Hemel Deck Oil is applied to the surface thickly when it is first applied or the excess oil is not removed by wiping with a cloth or brush.
Solution:

- Application of more wood deck oil than required to be applied to the surface • Not removing excess wood deck oil applied to the surface by combing with a cloth or brush.

Causes of the Problem:
- It is caused by the application on the surface more than it should be applied, and the excess oil being applied not to be wiped off with a cloth or brush.
