- HiHickson Timber Impregnation Co. Ltd. establishes HEMEL, Turkey’s first timber impregnation salts factory.
1983
- Became a key supplier of wood preservatives for Turkish Telecom and the Electric Institution.
- Launched Hickson Decor, Turkey’s first breathable and long-lasting exterior wood paint.
1992
- Signed a distribution agreement with leading Italian paint manufacturer, Sayerlack.
- Introduced Turkey’s first water-based, single-component parquet varnishes.
1997
- Launched Turkey’s first “Class 1” certified fire-retardant wood coating systems in cooperation with Sayerlack.
1999
- Hickson Timber Impregnation Co. Ltd. was acquired by Arch Chemicals, one of the largest chemical manufacturers in the USA.
2002
- Introduced Tanalith, Turkey’s first arsenic-free, eco-friendly wood preservative for vacuum pressure systems.
2005
- Entered the DIY market through major retailers such as Bauhaus and Koçtaş.
2010
- Started production of wood coatings with the establishment of the HEMEL factory in Tuzla, Istanbul.
2011
- Arch Chemicals, a partner in HEMEL, was acquired by Swiss-based Lonza, the world’s largest biocide producer.
- Received ISO 9001:2008 and OHSAS 18001:2007 Quality Certifications.
2012
- Established the R&D department and focused on the development of eco-friendly, water-based products.
2016
- Celebrated HEMEL’s 50th anniversary with a renewed logo and updated packaging across all product lines.
2019
- Launched the Prime brand in Turkish and global markets.
- Received the TSE-ISO 10002:2014 Customer Satisfaction Management System certification.
2020
- Acquired the Restol brand from Lonza Wood Protection.
- Entered the marine coatings market with the launch of HEMEL Marine.
2023
- Expanded exports to 32 countries.
- Reached 400 sales points across Turkey.
- Launched the first multi-purpose wood oil resistant to scratches and UV rays.
- Initiated construction of a state-of-the-art second production facility in Balıkesir. Designed to enhance operational flexibility and technological capacity, the new plant is scheduled to commence production in 2025, further improving product and service quality.
