  • Tips

During the application, the application method and amounts specified in the Technical Data Sheet of Hemel Home Parquet Polish should be followed.

The parquet surface should be scrubbed with sandpaper numbered 40-60-120, respectively, with a scraper machine.

The edges that you cannot reach with the scraper machine should be sanded with an edge sander.

Sanding marks on the surface should be removed by using 120 grit sandpaper with vibratory sandpaper.

If you are going to apply parquet polish with a roller, pour the amount of parquet polish you will use into a container that your roller can fit. Make sure the container is dry and clean.

Start the parquet polish application with a brush from the edges.

When applying parquet polish, do not comb too much to leave a sufficient amount of polish on the surface.

After the parquet polish application is completed, the drying time is 24 hours. You can step on the surface after 24 hours. 7 days should be waited before laying carpet or cleaning.

The brush or roller to be used in parquet polish applications must be saturated with polish before starting the application. After this process, the excess product remaining on the roller or brush should be removed by rubbing the edge of the package or using a suitable apparatus. Thus, in the first applications, an equal and sufficient amount of polish will be applied to the surface.

Care should be taken to apply a minimum of 85-100 grams of polish per square meter to prevent the roller and brush marks that may occur due to the high absorbency of the wood in the application of the first layer of parquet polish. Also while applying the first coat, it is important to apply the polish on the parquet surface first transversely, then longitudinally, without combing too much, to apply an even and sufficient amount of polish to the surface.

Hemel Home Water Based Parquet Polish is ready to use. It can be diluted with 2-3% drinking water to facilitate the application of parquet polish in very hot weather and to extend the drying and spreading time.

    Problems and Solutions

Hemel Home Water Based Parquet Polish doesn't spread and collects in certain areas.

    Causes of the Problem:

    • Not enough sanding between coats. • Over thinning of Hemel Home Water Based Parquet Polish
    • Applying less Hemel Home Water-Based Parquet Varnish to the surface than the recommended amount.
    • The presence of silicone or solvent vapors in the environment. For example; The use of silicone products in the environment before and not enough ventilation (PVC application, use of solvent-based paint, etc.)
    • Other substances getting on the brush or roller used or not being cleaned well before use.

    Solution:

    • The transactions under the title of the causes of the problem should be checked and the conditions causing this should be eliminated.
    • If Hemel Home Water-Based Parquet Varnish has just been applied to the surface and is a small area, the paint should be removed with a clean cloth and the surface should be completely cleaned from the new paint.
    • If it is not possible to clean the surface, some polish should be added and more combing should be done on the surface with a brush.
    • When there is an opening problem on the surface, the problem should be eliminated before allowing the product to dry on the surface.

Parquet varnish, which is taken as matt, looks bright after application

    Causes of the Problem:

    • Not mixing the Hemel Home Water Based Parquet Polish sufficiently before the application.

    Solution:

    • The transactions under the title of the causes of the problem should be checked and the conditions causing this should be eliminated.
    • While the parquet varnishes are being produced, the product is brought to the required dullness level by adding a matte agent. This matte agent parquet polish added to the bottom of the package over time collapses while waiting on the shelf. For this reason, it is especially stated on the product packaging labels and Technical Data Sheets that it should be mixed thoroughly before the application and that this mixing process should be done from time to time during the application.

Creating fold or roller marks on the surface

    Causes of the Problem:

    • Missing or incorrect application of parquet polish
    • Less parquet polish applied to the surface than recommended
    • Scanning more than necessary during the application
    • Parquet polish is not applied in the direction of the wood grain.

    Solution:

    • The transactions under the title of the causes of the problem should be checked and the conditions causing this should be eliminated.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Can I change the color of my parquet?

You can color your parquets from the floor. If you want to change the color of your polished parquets, you can apply the desired color of Hickson Decor Aqua Decorative Colorant Wood Colorant by completely cleaning the polish on the surface and the colorant used on the floor if any. 4-6 hours after the coloring process is completed, you can apply one of the HEMEL Ultramat, HEMEL Home, or HEMEL Heavy Traffic Parquet Polishes.

Does Hemel Home Water Based Parquet Varnish turn the colorant used on the floor yellow or cause any color changes?

Hemel Home Water Based Parquet Varnish has an effect called the "wood warming effect" in the literature that warms the area it is used and the color of the wood. Due to this feature, which increases the temperature of the home environment, it causes some yellowing on the surfaces it is used.

  • Like with all wooden furniture, wooden floorings and wooden parquets add value to homes and provide a stylish look. However, even if we use the best-laminated and solid parquet, they lose their brightness over the years, their color fades, and lose their old appearance. Since it is a natural substance, it requires good care. Parquet maintenance should be done with a quality wood parquet varnish, laminate parquet varnish suitable for wood. If the wooden parquet polish is applied to the parquet at certain intervals, your old parquet polish and preservative of the wooden parquet will be completed and the floor will have a clean and vivid look as on the first day. If it is desired to use the correct products for the scraper and polish applications, water-based parquet polish should be a perfect choice.

How is water-based parquet varnish different from other varnishes? And what are the water-based parquet varnish prices? What is water-based Parquet varnish?
Water-based wood parquet varnish is both healthy and environmentally friendly. Water-based varnishes dry faster and are odorless. Water-based parquet polish is as effective as chemical varnishes. If you want solid parquet or laminate flooring to preserve its color and the natural appearance of the wood, it would be the best choice to use a water-based parquet varnish. After drying, it will be waterproof and will protect your parquet against scratches and abrasions. The appearance of water-based parquet polish is clean, and the tools used in the application can be easily cleaned with water.

Wood parquet varnishes contain a volatile substance VOC, this compound gets into the air during and after the varnish is applied. Water-based parquet polish contains much less VOC than solvent-based parquet varnishes and is therefore much safer for health. Water-based parquet polish is an odorless parquet polish. Hemel Home water-based odorless parquet varnish is among the most recognized and preferred parquet polish brands. Hemel water-based parquet varnish is odorless and has a longer life and is more resistant to scratches and abrasions. Although it has more protective properties, it is odorless and does not contain carcinogenic substances compared to solvent-based parquet polish. It is a parquet polish suitable for child health and has EN 71-3 standard. It can also be used in places such as nursing homes for people with asthma and allergic diseases.

Hemel Home Water Based Parquet Polish/Varnish has three different options as matte, ultra-matte, and glossy parquet polish. Water-based parquet varnish is colorless, but if you want to change the parquet color, you can give your parquet a beautiful color with Hemel Aqua Decorative Colorant parquet colorant before polishing, and after 4-6 hours you can maintain and protect it with Hemel Home parquet varnish.
